The North-South Corridor is one of the key importand export routes for trade moving in and outof Southern Africa and parts of East and CentralAfrica. Key commodities include bulk and breakbulk cargo, liquid and general freight. This corridoris of significant importance for economic reasonsincluding intra-Africa trade between SouthernAfrica, most importantly the landlocked countriesand the rest of the continent.Intra-African trade costs are significantly higher,by more than half, than trade among countries inEast Asia and other developing regions, resultingin Africa integrating with the rest of the world ata faster pace than its own regional integration.This high cost of trade is mostly associatedwith logistics.
