Safety starts with attitude

Achieving perfect safety calls for a constant effort. Though it may never be achieved, it's vitally important to keep striving toward that goal. "We can move to a new, higher level of safety attitude, and a new level of awareness, because employees want to participate in the process, simply because it's the right thing to do for themselves, for their co-workers, their company and their families," said C. J. Wehrmeister, vice president safety and environment for Norfolk Southern, in a speech before the American Association of Railroad Superintendents in July.
