There are many potential pitfalls that can seriously affect a project when the independent verification of a previously developed block design is required. The hope of this discussion is to identify areas where problems may arise, and to offer suggestions on how to mitigate them.When a transit property decides to embark upon new construction, a line extension or an upgrade of an existing control system, one of the earliest and most fundamental signaling tasks that needs to be performed for a fixed-block system with cab signals is the development of a block design for the affected line segment.
