UP investing in track in Wisconsin, Nebraska

Union Pacific is investing nearly $15 million to improve the freight rail line that runs from Milwaukee, Wis., to Chicago. Work on the more than 75-mile stretch of railroad track began April 23 and is scheduled to be completed by mid-December. The project includes removing and installing 111,200 ties, spreading 41,500 tons of rock ballast to reinforce the roadbed and replacing 94 grade-crossing surfaces. Also, UP is investing more than $4 million to improve the rail line that runs from near Hudson, Wis., to near Me-nomonie Jct., Wis.
