Getting to know MICHAEL POCHOP

Each month AREMA features one of our committee chairmen. We are pleased to announce that the May featured chairman is Michael Pochop, chair of Committee 24 - Education & Training. AREMA: Why did you decide to choose a career in railway engineering? Pochop: I chose engineering because it gave me the impression of being a respected profession that would allow me to support a family. My dad suggested mechanical engineering, but I chose civil engineering because I could design infrastructure projects with public visibility and perhaps get outside more. My maternal grandfather liked to travel by train and was an armchair railfan. His collection of magazines and books sparked my interest in railways.
