AREMA's student scholarships 41 years of supporting the next generation

It all began in 1975, when Committee 6 - Buildings sponsored a contest for the design of a control tower and a service building for a railroad classification yard. The competition was a success with more than 100 entries. Committee 24 (through its Subcommittee 4 - Student Affiliates) challenged other American Railway Engineering Association (AREA) technical committees to sponsor a design competition. It took several years of working with the committees to hold three more competitions.
