Luoyang's first metro line inaugurated

Luoyang has become the second city in Henan province with a metro network, opening its east-west Line 1 for revenue service on March 29 following a formal inauguration the previous day. Under construction since 2017 at a cost of 18bn yuan, the 25.3 km line links Yangwan to Hongshan, serving 19 stations. The depot is located adjacent to the elevated western terminus at Hongshan. The 22 six-car Type B train-sets have been supplied by a local subsidiary of CRRC Group, Luoyang CRRC Rail Transit Equipment Co. With styling inspired by 'the spirit of the Silk Road', these have a crush load capacity of 2062 passengers. The line is equipped for attended ATO to GoA2, with trains operating at up to 80 km/h to give an end-to-end journey time of 43 min.
