Sanders Flag Stop

I have had a love affair with the Maine two-footers dating back to when I first began seriously modeling in the late 1970s. A good dose of inspiration came from Dave Prary and Bob Hayden's regular features on modeling Maine narrow gauge in RMC back in the 1970s. I began modeling Maine in HOn30 with my version of the Carrabassett & Quebec Railroad. It was done on a 2x4-foot module that became a part of the Thames Valley Central Modular Club here in London, Ont. Those equipment and structures are static displays on my desk and around the layout room. Today, my main modeling focus is New England standard gauge. My current Maine narrow gauge modeling is being done in On30 on a 6-foot module called the Wiscasset & Quebec Railway that will eventually become a point-to-point room-size layout. To get a head start on the layout, I have built a drop-in flag stop scene called Sanders, a location once found on the Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes. When I built my flag stop in 2015 it was for two reasons: First, it was for future use on my On30 layout; and, second, it was to display at the 2016 National Narrow Gauge Convention held in Augusta, Maine.
