'The most difficult year in living memory'

It's been almost exactly 18 months since the Coronavirus pandemic brought many of our day-to-day lives to a halt, with orders from Prime Minister Boris Johnson to stay at home. As a public health emergency of truly global proportions, the crisis has touched every individual, family, business and economic sector in this country. But, in the UK at least, the success of the vaccination programme has undeniably changed the course of the pandemic for the better. A sustained fall in hospitalisation and severe illness rates, plus the end of lockdowns and an easing of restrictions, now puts us in a strong position to frame our minds towards living in a post-pandemic world.
