TO look forwards you must sometimes look back - in this case back to 1981 and the launch of RAIL, known then as Rail Enthusiast. That first issue carried a High Speed Train prominently on the cover. It represented a good bet on the future. The type had been running for five years and its sharp nose turned heads.
