Bidding manufacturers reveal designs for HS2 trains

DESIGNS for HS2's £2.75 billion classic-compatible trains have been unveiled by the five competing companies. Alstom, CAF, Siemens, Talgo and the Bombardier/Hitachi joint venture have all revealed their plans for the trains. The contract is due to be awarded next year. "Alstom's vision is to make HS2 trains a timeless design classic, with a passenger experience that is as smooth, calm and spacious as it is high speed," said Alstom UK and Ireland Managing Director Nick Crossfield.
