Heathrow Express became 'Chengdu 72 Express' for 72 hours

Customers on the Heathrow Express rail-air link saw pandas nestling in the greenery of southwest China in late May. Or rather vinyl artwork of the scene fixed inside the windows. The train, which connects Heathrow to London Paddington in 15 minutes, was temporarily re-named the 'Chengdu 72 Express' as part of a campaign to develop UK trade links with Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province and China's fourth largest city. The aim was to encourage British travelers to use the 'Chengdu 72' facility - the offer by Chinese authorities of 72-hour visa-free transit travel to Chengdu, after British Airways' decision to increase its flights to the city from three a week to five.
