New X 73500 d.m.u arrives in Luxembourg

With increasing train frequencies and constantly growing passenger volumes, CFL are coming dangerously close to their capacity limits. To keep pace with demand, the CFL Board has, therefore, decided to renew and adapt the vehicle fleet without delay as part of moves to improve quality of service. The factors dictating the choice of the new rolling stock included short delivery lead times, technical reliability, a high standard of passenger comfort and generous seating capacity. On 24 December 1999 the Board gave the green light for an order to be placed with ALSTOM S.A. for 6 d.m.u. trainsets built to the CFL specification.
