Guide for producing railway environmental indicators

Environmental indicators are being increasingly used by a number of railways for environmental reporting and as an aid to their environment management. The UIC Ad Hoc Working Party for Environmental Indicators (members: CFF/SBB AG, DB AG, SJ, SNCF, DNRA, UIC) has therefore compiled a guide, which should simplify the task of selecting and comparing railway-oriented indicators. The first draft of this guide deals with issues such as energy consumption, traction-generated atmospheric pollution and noise.
