CEH, CEM and Forum Train Europe Continuity over time and in purpose

The European Passenger Train Timetable Conference (CEH) and the European Freight Train Timetable Conference (CEM) merged not long ago to form a new organisation, Forum Train Europe (FTE). The main objective of the two original organisations, which left a prestigious past behind them, was to produce international timetables and today it is Forum Train Europe that carries that torch. As the railway sector is de-regulated, international railway organisations have been obliged to move with the times. Our intention is to sketch the changes that have taken place, but first to recap briefly on the history of CEH and CEM, two leading international rail transport organisations that are now part of railway history.
