Increasing freight traffic throughput via the Traceca corridor

On the Georgian Railways the pace and focus of efforts to optimise operations on the transport corridor that is part of the historic TRACECA programme (approved in Brussels in 1993) has recently sharpened. This highly competitive and attractive corridor is a contemporary version of the famous old "Silk Road", which extended over nearly 13,000 km from Spain to China in the pre-Christian era. Georgia was in fact crossed by one of the branches of the "Silk Road".
