More than 8 million people have travelled on BAA's Heathrow Express since it was formally opened by Prime Minister Tony Blair in 1998. Currently 14,000 customers use the express rail link daily equating to over 18,000 during peak periods. It is also believed to have saved the British economy £82.4 million.
