London Gateway is go

Construction of London Gateway, the UK's first new container port for over 25 years, took a major step forward on August 20 when DP World awarded a contract worth ￡400m to a joint venture of Laing O'Rourke and Dredging International to build the first phase. Work is due to begin later this year at the former Shell Haven refinery site in Essex to build three berths and over 1-2 km of quay. The first ships are expected to dock in early 2011, following the opening 'in the latter half of 2010' of an integrated logistics park offering 9-5 million ft2 and claimed by DP World to be the largest in Europe.
