Open-access operator Wrexham st Shropshire launched revenue services between Wrexham General and London Marylebone on April 28, reports Tony Miles, offering a full timetable of five trains a day on weekdays, four on Saturdays and three on Sundays from the outset. The inaugural 07.25 departure from Wrexham arrived in London almost 1 h late following loss of power, however. WSMR is using four rakes of Mk 111 coaches leased from Cargo-D or purchased from Cotswold Rail, 'top and tailed' by Class 67 locomotives provided by EWS. From mid-summer, WSMR's own rolling stock including Driving Van Trailers should be available following refurbishment by Axiom Rail.
