Adelantes now in demand?

Hull Trains put its first Class 180 Adelante DMU into service on April 26 as interest in the 14-strong fleet released by First Great Western continues to grow across the industry, writes Tony Miles. Hull Trains has taken two units on short leases while it evaluates performance on a weekend diagram recently covered by a Class 86 locomotive hauling Mk 111 coaches. The Class 180s 'will be put through a thorough baselining and reliability assessment' to ensure reliability is comparable with the Class 222 fleet over the next few months. If the trial is successful, the company would consider leasing more Class 180s with the ultimate aim of replacing the Class 222 Pioneers.
