Freightliner began loaded trials with GE Transportation's Power-Haul locomotive on December 2, when No 70 002 hauled a coal train from Stoke Gifford to Rugeley power station. This was less than one month after the first pair of Class 70s had arrived in Newport from the USA on November 8, and 25 months after the order for up to 30 locomotives was awarded to GE in November 2007.rnA second batch of four arrived last week, and six are under construction for delivery by next September. Orders for the remaining 18 will be confirmed as needed. Funding has been provided by Lloyds TSB.
