Transport Secretary Geoff Hoon officially opened East Midlands Parkway station on January 26. Built at a cost of £25-5m by Birse Rail, the new station with 850 parking spaces is Intended to act as a park-and-ride facility for Leicester, Derby and Nottingham. A dedicated shuttle bus operates to Nottingham East Midlands Airport.
