Ron McAulay explained to the STPR conference in Edinburgh on January 19 that EGIP comprises 24 packages of work, and 'until recently1 Network Rail was responsible to Transport Scotland for 22 of them. The remaining two are drafting the post-2016 timetable, and the new rail-tram interchange at Gogar.rnAll the EGIP work is being managed and planned by an integrated team from Transport Scotland, Network Rail and First ScotRail under the supervision of a Joint Project Board.rnNR has now taken all of its 22 projects to GRIP 2, and is moving up to GRIP 3 which involves the preparation of options for selection. At this stage, the cost of EGIP is still officially quoted as a wide range from £500m to £1bn, but more precise estimates should emerge when GRIP 4 (selection of best option) is reached.
