Software issues delay Class 380

Press reports that ScotRail was refusing to accept its new fleet of Siemens Class 380 EMUs following 'major problems in testing' appear to have exaggerated the scale of the problem. According to Siemens insiders, the issues arose during testing of coupling and uncoupling two sets running in multiple.rnComputer systems in the rear unit did not receive the correct data from the leading unit via the coupler. On one test run this resulted in the brakes of the rear unit remaining locked. The issue had not emerged during similar trials on the Siemens test track at Wildenrath in Germany.
