Edge Hill officially opened

The West Coast Traincare depot at Edge Hill was officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Liverpool on May 12. Completed last December, the Class 390 maintenance facility was built by Volker Fitzpatrick, with the ￡15m cost met by Network Rail as part of the settlement for the write-off of a Pendolino in the 2007 Grayrigg derailment.rnThe facility replaces an older shed used for overnight servicing, and increases capacity at Edge Hill from five to eight trainsets per night. The 300 m long two-track depot is designed to accommodate 11-car sets, with three wheeldrops and lifting facilities on each road, plus access platforms at various levels.
