NR renews contracts

On May 4 Balfour Beatty announced a four-year extension to its framework contract for renewing plain line, switches and crossings, along with associated signalling, electrification and drainage work, throughout the South East Territory. The first year is expected to be worth ￡56m, with a further ￡115m in prospect provided agreed targets are met. BB has also secured a four-year contract worth over ￡50m for plain line grinding across the network, and operation and maintenance of six rail grinders owned by NR.
