Design approved

Parsons Brinckerhoff has achieved 'final design approval' for the signalling and control systems to be installed under the Thameslink Programme. This covers preliminary conceptual design under a contract awarded at the end of 2008. Work has involved 'accommodating the requirements of multiple stakeholders' to enable a high-frequency train service to be operated through the central core. Final design approval was received at the beginning of this year. Under a separate contract, Parsons Brinckerhoff is also developing the preferred option for signalling and track design from Waterloo East through Blackfriars Junction, Cannon Street and London Bridge to New Cross. Due to be completed this month, work includes developing designs for the flyover at Bermondsey.
