Angel strengthens HST fleet

Under a sale and leaseback deal announced on March 2, Angel Trains has acquired the three Grand Central IC125 sets from Sovereign Trains, the open-access operator's sister company. The sets, totalling 24 vehicles including six power cars and spares, have been operated by Grand Central since 2007.rnThe HSTs will now be brought up to the IC125-10 specification of the rest of the Angel fleet. This will include repowering with MTU engines plus reliability and interior modifications to the passenger vehicles.rnBrush Traction will be responsible for the upgrade programme, with the power car modifications car-rnried out at its Loughborough works. The company's overhaul and refurbishment operation at the former Hunslet Barclay works in Kilmarnock will be responsible for the passenger vehicle upgrades. The programme will start in June this year.
