Economy drive defers Crossrail train procurement

Savings 'running into the tens of millions' have been claimed as the justification for Crossrail Ltd's decision to introduce its train fleet over a shorter period. It had been expected that the ITT for the total train service provision contract including depots would be issued towards the end of this year, with contract signature following some two years later and the first EMUs entering service in December 2016.
