Kent County Council announced on April 27 that it would be providing funding to enable Southeastern High Speed services to be extended to Sandwich and Deal. From October 3 there will be departures at 05.51, 06.17 and 06.47 from Sandwich, as well as return services from St Pancras at 17.40 and 18.40, offering a journey time to London of 90 min. 'We've worked closely with Southeastern, local MPs and Dover District Council to secure the service at minimum cost', said Paul CarteT, Leader of Kent County Council and Chairman of the Sandwich Economic Development Task Force.
