Individual awards from the second tranche of SCPF funding to projects on Network Rail's London North Eastern Route range from £8-6m for NR to upgrade facilities at Newcastle to £345 000 for improvements to the car park at Northallerton station, operated by TransPennine Express. Work at Newcastle will include the provision of modern retail facilities as well as improvements to waiting rooms and toilets, in order to 'give a better first impression to visitors to the city', said LNE Route Managing Director Phil Verster.
