Siemens responds to Thameslink concerns

Following the announcement of further slippage in signing off the Thameslink total train service provision deal (RBI425 p6), Siemens pic issued a statement on October 31. According to Siemens Rail Managing Director Steve Scrimshaw, while the company is 'disappointed' that the negotiations 'have taken longer than anticipated', Siemens is making 'good progress1 and remains confident that 'it will achieve closure of this important deal'. Scrimshaw added: 'our project team is in detailed negotiations with the Department for Transport and in daily contact with them and other key stakeholders. Depending on progress over the next month or so, we hope to achieve commercial close by Christmas with financial closure in the New Year.'
