Scotland sets out CP5 spend

In a statement to the Scottish Parliament, Transport Minister Keith Brown announced on June 21 a £5bn programme of investment and improvements to rail services that the Scottish Government is to fund during CP5 from 2014 to 2019. This followed the Rail 2014 consultation to help shape the Scottish HLOS for CP5 as well as the new ScotRail franchise. 'We have listened to the views expressed by passengers in the north of Scotland and responded, showing leadership, innovation and ambition in the process', said Brown. 'For example, passengers expressed a desire for the direct cross-border services to remain intact. We have delivered but also set in place arrangements that will enhance the service.
