Financial data to be improved

Having launched the first official analysis of railway finances (RBI408 p1), ORR is now looking to both extend its coverage and provide more detail in the next edition of GB Rail Industry Financial Information. Publication is likely to be annual. Freight was omitted from the 2010-11 edition because of its relatively minor contribution to industry costs and income, but is likely to be included in the second edition. ORR also wants to see further disaggregation, the aim being for customers and funders of each TOC service group to understand the cost of what they are buying and what subsidy is paying for.
