Last month Network Rail published an update on the progress it expects to make in the last months of Control Period 4 on delivering Strategic Freight Network projects. NR is now expecting to spend a total of £280m on SFN schemes in the five years to March 31 2014. Recently completed are clearance to provide the W10 loading gauge on the diversionary route through Andover for intermodal trains between Southampton and Basing-stoke, as well as facilities at Barking for handling European gauge trains using the Channel Tunnel and HS1 to reach London.
