Surface option abandoned

HS2 Ltd confirmed on April 23 a further substantial revision to the consultation route in the London suburbs which would see a 9 km bored tunnel built between North Acton and Northolt. The tunnel option replaces the previous proposal to follow the existing little-used railway alignment between Old Oak Common and South Ruislip; in total a 14 km twin bore is now envisaged to carry HS2 from Old Oak Common to West Ruislip.
