Derailed train re-rails itself

RAIB is investigating the extraordinary derailment of the 10.00 service to Norwich as it left London Liverpool Street on January 23. The train consisted of nine coaches propelled by a Class 90 locomotive. When travelling at about 15 mile/h, several wheels derailed about 180 m beyond the end of the platforms. Remarkably, track-work in the station throat caused all the derailed wheels to climb back onto the track within about 35 m.
