Bids for the Essex Thameside and Thameslink, Southern εt Great Northern franchises were being evaluated and 'we are working towards a contract award fairly soon'. The InterCity East Coast ITT had been issued on March 21 (p1), and 'market negotiations are underway' regarding the long-term Northern (p5) and TransPennine Express franchises due to start in February 2016. 'Meanwhile, we are negotiating nine direct awards, including the Northern deal announced this morning', she said.
