Following the formal submission to ORR of its application to operate open-access services on the East Coast Main Line from London to Newcastle and Edinburgh from December 2016, Alliance Rail Holdings has now announced plans to introduce direct services from King's Cross to stations in West Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, which it hopes to start in December 2017. Alliance is planning a 'two-hourly' service to Leeds calling at a new East Leeds Parkway station, with six trains a day continuing to Bradford and one to llkley, all calling at the new station at Kirkstall Forge. Up to four trains a day would run from London to Cleethorpes via Doncaster, Scunthorpe and Grimsby.
