For an initial two-year period, Virgin Trains is subleasing a DB Schenker Class 90 loco from DRS to haul its set of Mk III coaches, retained on standby at Wembley when not in scheduled service on Thursdays and Fridays. The Mk III set is also used by Virgin for its growing charter business. NR is to submit a planning application to build a 150-space car park on the site of the old station building in Uckfield, where demand for parking spaces has been increasing 'as a result of the growing numbers of passengers travelling by train'. Construction would cost £1m and NR hopes to open the new facility this summer.
