By using data collection and analysis to identify and avoid potential failures, the Locomotive Reliability Team at DB Schenker Rail UK has improved the performance of the freight operator's Class 67 fleet by over 100%. In 2014 the Class 67 fleet covered 1376000 miles 'with only 11 failures/delays', according to DB Schenker. For a period of 43 weeks which started on May 26, Network Rail has closed for rebuilding the bridge carrying Orlando Street in Bolton over the railway. 'This is a significant road closure in the centre of Bolton and we have carefully planned the work to be completed in the shortest, safest amount of time', said NR Area Director Terry Strickland. 'Significant' work is being undertaken during the Farnworth Tunnel closure 'to minimise the impact on passengers'.
