Orion revives Springs Branch

On June 2 Orion Rail Et Training Services launched its new training centre and head office, located in the former Wigan Springs Branch rolling stock maintenance depot. Part of the Orion Group, ORTS is a fully certified rail service provider to Network Rail, and has also been accredited by the National Skills Academy for Railway Engineering. As well as providing safety-critical training, the new facility will offer apprenticeship and training opportunities for those aged between 16 and 24, 'with a focus on unemployed school leavers, disadvantaged groups and former armed forces personnel'. 'We are currently in a strong position to be expanding the business', said Orion Group Operations Director Jeff Sykes. 'The opening of the Orion Wigan Rail Et Training Centre headquarters signals our commitment to develop further our railway expertise'.
