Accessibility dispensations issued by DfT

Letters granting dispensations from the requirement for all rail vehicles to comply with accessibility regulations from January 1 2020 are being issued by DfT. Compliance with the European PRM TSI, or relevant UK standards such as the Rail Vehicle Accessibility Regulations, is required under Regulation 45 of the Railways (Interoperability) Regulations 2011. DfT published compliance assessments of the ex-BR fleets in 2008 and these have been updated. The assessments took a pragmatic approach to compliance, concentrating on issues with the greatest effect on passengers.
