1. PTI accounts for 21% of safety risk and 48% of fatality risk. 2. Falls from platforms when not boarding/alighting account for a disproportionate share of PTI injuries. 3. More PTI incidents occur in summer, possibly due to the increase in leisure travellers less familiar with risks. 4. Alighting is more hazardous than boarding. 5. 65% of reported PTI incidents involve females; this is possibly a result of footwear and women being more likely to report an incident. 6. Females aged 50 to 71 and males 70+ are disproportionately involved. 7. Females are more likely to fall boarding/alighting, males to fall off the platform. 8. 9% of incidents involve intoxication, with males more likely to be involved. 9. 15% of incidents involve passengers with luggage, cycles and pushchairs.
