Southern not in breach, says Perry

Replying to a written question from Labour MP for Streatham Chuka Umunna on whether Southern 'is complying with the terms of its franchise'. Transport Minister Claire Perry told the House of Commons last month that, 'based on current information', DfT had 'not identified any contractual compliance failures'. This applied to both operational performance and the delivery of other franchise obligations. Umunna has been pursuing DfT over the ongoing problems following the introduction of the new timetable on January 5 after major works at London Bridge over the Christmas period (RB1477 p2). Overcrowding at London Bridge has seen Southern modify the timetable on a weekly basis, the most recent minor changes coming into effect on February 9.
