Network Rail expects to begin main works in June on a £6-7m package of improvements at Severn Tunnel Junction station, funded by DfT's Access for All scheme (RBI478 p4). This will include a new footbridge with ramps, providing sufficient clearance for electrification, as well as a new ticket office and additional disabled parking spaces. New lifts and a footbridge connecting the booking hall and car park with the island platform at Acocks Green station were officially opened on February 2, built at a cost of £1-7m met by DfT's Access for All fund (£1m) and Centra. With 415 420 passenger-journeys in 2013-14, Acocks Green was the third-busiest station in the West Midlands and the busiest without step-free access, according to Centra.
