Network Rail is due to hold a public information event on November 3 to present its plans for doubling part of the Felixstowe branch, which would increase capacity for freight trains serving the Port of Felixstowe from 33 to 47 in each direction per day. The project also includes the closure of six level crossings in the Trimley area. This would involve the construction of a new bridge to carry a public bridleway across the railway.
