SWT rolling stock upgrade completed

Completion of the programme to extend the Class 458 EMU fleet from four to five cars, plus the refurbishment of two-car Class 456 EMUs formerly operated by South-em, was announced by South West Trains on June 22. Valued at £65m, the two programmes provide an additional 23 000 seats in the peaks. Compared with 2014, SWT says that 34 trains in the morning and 43 evening services are now being operated with additional cars.
