LU extends Balfour Beatty track renewals contract

Balfour Beatty Group plc announced on March 24 that it had been awarded a two-year extension to its contract to undertake track renewals for London Underground. Worth £170m, the extension option will see the Track Partnership run until March 2018, the alliance contract having been originally awarded by LU in 2010. Balfour Beatty Rail will continue to provide design, labour, plant and materials, as well as surveying, supervision and management of works. Renewal of ballasted track includes points £ crossings as well as associated drainage, signalling, traction power supply and conductor rail works.
