On January 4 c2c introduced a further round of operational amendments, including changes to train lengths, having monitored the performance of its new timetable introduced on December 13. Despite already having made some changes, c2c acknowledged that certain services were particularly overcrowded, as passenger feedback had indicated. The new timetable had been introduced last year with the aim of providing a seat for more passengers travelling the longest distances, increasing the number of departures for London in the morning peak by 50% at Chafford Hundred and Ockendon, 45% at Basildon and 30% at leigh-on-Sea and Benfleet. In total, 1 400 extra seats were provided into Fenchurch Street during the morning peak 'and room for 3 000 more passengers'.
